The Big Apple Softball League (BASL) is a not for profit adult community based sports organization, created to provide and protect the opportunity for adult individuals who support the bonds of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender fellowship to play softball in a safe environment of friendly competition, free of discrimination on the basis of age, race, creed, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.
Since 1977 BASL had offered opportunities for its members to meet in friendly social settings in scheduled events held throughout the year. In addition to advancing participation in sports within the LGBTQ community, the BASL fosters knowledge and training in the field of softball, aimed at educating the community served about the physical, social, psychological, and intellectual benefits of athletics.
BASL plays double-header slowpitch softball games on Saturdays & Sundays in a Spring/Summer Season. We aren't just about softball! We host numerous parties and events throughout the year including an Opening Party, End of Season Awards Ceremony, our annual HoliGay Party, and monthly league-wide socials. Our teams also host happy hours and fundraisers.
Playing with the BASL is a great way to get involved in the LGBTQ+ Community both on and off the field.
